The Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court presided over His lordship Isaac Oheneba Kufuor , has granted Suspect Kofi Yesu bail with three sureties and amount of Ghc 30,000 with three sureties.
30 year old man Nana Kofi Amofa , alias Kofi Yesu was arrested by the Central East Regional Police Intelligence Unit(PID) while attempting to sell his Senior brother’s 6 year -old -daughter for GHC150,000 to acquire visa to Canada.
The suspect was arrested at Gomoa Buduburam near Obolo estate.
Police says, they had information that, the suspect has expressed desire to sell the six year old girl (name withheld) to get money to travel to Canada, so police dispatched men leading to his arrest.
Sources says, officers from the Police Intelligence Unit, contracted a man as a buyer who express interest of buying the victim and during their conversation ,the suspect demanded Ghc150,000 which is (1.5 billion old cedis).
After the arrest, the suspect confirmed that, the victim a daughter of his senior brother, Kwadwo Brako who is currently in his Home Town at Nyamebekyere a village near Akyem Ayirebi in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency of the Eastern Region.
Upon interrogation, the suspect revealed that, the girl was living with her parents at Nyamebekyere and ask the girl to come and stay with him to have access to better education not knowing he is going to sell the little girl and used the money to travel to Canada.
Kofi Yesu is to appear before court on 9th of August 2024.
