Chelsea face Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday in their final game of the Champions League group stages.
The Blues have already secured top spot in Group E and face a Dinamo side that are currently bottom, vying with RB Salzburg for a place in the Europa League play-offs.
The match could therefore present Potter with the perfect opportunity to rotate his squad and give minutes to some of his fringe players.
The likes of Denis Zakaria and Hakim Ziyech are yet to start a match under Potter, but could both be named in the starting line up at Stamford Bridge.
Both players look increasingly likely to leave the club at the end of the season, with Zakaria’s loan extremely unlikely to be extended and Ziyech appearing likely to be sold.
According to reports this week, Chelsea are already looking to land their first signing for next summer.
As reported by FourFourTwo, Chelsea are interested in Brighton and Hove Albion’s Leandro Trossard and have launched an offer for the player.
The report claims that a £30 million offer has already been made for the attacking midfielder, who has enjoyed a superb season so far.
Potter managed Trossard during his time with Brighton
The Belgium international has so far scored seven goals and provided two assists in 12 Premier League matches, including a hat-trick at Anfield and a goal against Chelsea last week.
The 27-year-old, who can play in a variety of roles including on the left flank and as a central midfielder, has previously admitted that he would be open to a move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have already lured both Potter and full-back Marc Cucurella to London from the south coast, and they are now looking to take advantage of Trossard’s current contract situation.
The Belgian’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and Chelsea are therefore likely to be one of a number of clubs interested in taking the player, The Daily Express claims.
The Blues would be at a disadvantage to overseas clubs in the race to land Trossard, though, as he would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club in January.
Trossard joined Brighton from Belgian club Genk in 2019 for a fee of £14 million, but his impressive performances this term are likely to have increased his value beyond that figure.
