Church Leaders Urged To Be Proactive To Help Build The Nation.

Church Leaders have been urged to take pragmatic steps that would help fight corruption in the country.

Participants of a conference organized for christian leaders believe churches must have mechanisms that would track the performances of their members appointed to various positions put in place. They believe that would be a more effective tool to aid the fight.

Corruption has being a major canker to the development of the country. Even though successive governments appear to be putting in place mechanisms to deal with the practice, the country appears to be making only a little progress.

For instance annual reports from various state and private anti-corruption agencies continue to capture various form of corrupt practices by officials and how much it costs the nation.

Even though one of the strongest values of Christianity is anti-corruption, Ghana, a country with christian dominance is still struggling to make any meaningful stride in corruption fight.

On his, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost is of the belief that, Church Leaders could be a more radical agents for change rather than political leaders not by giving church leaders appointments but through their teaches.

He however disagrees with the notion that Christianity has failed in helping the country to completely wean itself off corruption as he saids the situation would have even be more dire but for the existence of christianity. He spoke to Obaatanpa News Mireku Nyampong during 2022 All Ministers Conference held in Pentecost Convention Centre in the Central region.

The All Ministers’s Conference in previous years only factored ministers of the Church of Pentecost but this year, the event was expanded to consider leaders of other churches and has over 3000 church leaders participating with several notable speakers with diverse background in Christianity.

The Founder and Executive director of Salt and Light Ministries, who doubles as Member, boad of Trustees of National cathedral Rev Dr Joyce Aryee on her part rather wants Christian to be United regardless of our denominational backgrounds.
