Andre Ayew, the captain of the Black Stars, was allegedly mistreated by Chris Hughton during the team’s AFCON qualifying match against Angola, according to fiery sports commentator Countryman Songo.
When it came time to choose a coach for the Black Stars, Songo, whose true name is Patrick Osei Agyemang, claimed that the Ghana Football Association asked Ayew for his opinion on the possible employment of Chris Hughton and Kwasi Appiah as the team’s captain.
According to Songo, the coach decided to sideline Ayew for the first leg of the March 23 doubleheader against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium because of Ayew’s opinion on Chris Hughton, which he reportedly shared with the president of the Ghana Football Association.
“You enquired from the player if he believes Kwasi Appiah was the right man for the job and he offered that Kwasi Appiah is a local coach who with the right support will do a good job with the team. He said that Kwasi Appiah knows the terrain and knows how to navigate African football.
“The president also asked him and he vouched for him but said that he will only be successful if he is allowed to bring his own backroom staff. What’s wrong with said?
He told the truth about what could help any of the coaches. So what sin did he commit”, he said on th latest edition of his Fire for Fire show on Adom TV.
