Diego Costa Is Back In The Premier League — He Joins Wolves Until The End Of The Season

Wolves have confirmed the signing of Diego da Silva Costa commonly known as Diego Costa on a deal until the end of the 2022/23 season, subject to international clearance.

The former Chelsea striker is making a return to the English top-flight where he won two Premier League titles and a league Cup in his three years stint with the Blues.

The 33-year-old has been unattached since leaving Brazilian Championship A Series side Atletico Mineiro in January. He joins Wolves as cover for new signing Sasa Kalajdzic, who suffered a cruciate injury on his debut.

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Diego Costa to Wolves, and back to the Premier League. A serial winner with a wealth of experience at the highest level, Diego will bring something unique to our dressing room and on the pitch, and we look forward to his impact at Molineux and Compton this season.”

Costa is a dual citizen of Spain and Brazil —played twice for Brazil in 2013, before declaring his desire to represent La Roja, after he was granted Spanish citizenship in September that year.

He made his debut for Spain in March 2014, and has since won 24 caps and scored 10 goals, and has represented them at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.
