Veteran musician and dancer Akosua Agyapong has advised music awards organizers to factor in dancers in their award schemes since they also play a huge role in their industry.
According to her, dancers are used a lot in promoting music and even in some instances make the music hit because of good choreography in the music video.
Others even create dance videos for songs and within a short time, the video goes viral with the song.
She made these claims on the Akwaaba Show in an interview with DJ Ogboro Naghty on Obaatanpa Radio 92.5 yesterday when she was quizzed about her views on the recent VGMA nominations that was announced without a category that appreciates dancers.
The “Kokoko” songstress continued that, the Ministry in charge of Art, Tourism and Culture must look the direction of dance in this country because it is a great area the country can benefit from as far as tourism is concerned.
She advised that those who wish to use dance as a profession must be serious with it.
She said “the upcoming dancers must see it not just as a hobby but a serious business that comes with branding and time and that when these things are put together with determination, they will become successful”.
The beautiful musician concluded that dancers should come together to build a union so they have one mouthpiece to be able to push some agenda such as this.
