Ejura Killings: Alleged Killers Of Kaaka Are Not My Bodyguards-Ejura MCE Trumpets

Ejura MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejura in the Ashanti Region, Mr Mohammed Salisu Bamba has reiterated that the suspects, Issaka Ibrahim aka Anyars, Fuseini Alhassan, and Iddi Mohammed who is the brother of Kaaka are not his bodyguards as people are peddling around

Mr Salisu Bamba made the announcement when he appeared before the 3-member committee probing into the killings that transpired at Ejura a couple of days ago

The MCE has provided a detailed account of what happened before the shooting incident began and indicated he knows the suspects as NPP (New Patriotic Party) sympathizers who were canvassing votes for him when he contested as Member of Parliament for Ejura in the 2020 general election

“Yes, I know Anyars, he is NPP polling station executive at the Dagomba line and as Chief Executive and Parliamentary Candidate, I definitely have a relationship with them,” Mr Bamba

The Municipal Chief Executive said he had intelligence on June 28, 2021, that the youth were angry in the community following the death of Macho Kaaka. Before then, two persons had been arrested in connection with the murder, and accusing fingers were pointing at him that they were his bodyguards.

“The youth became angry and started searching for me, but he was nowhere to be found. They kept shouting and called me names until the situation extended to the youth wing platform of the New Patriotic Party. One of the angry youths identified as Wakas referred to me as a wicked person. On June 26, 2021, when the incident happened, I saw a post on our youth wing platform by one Wakas narrating what had happened and stating it can only happen under the wicked leadership of the Ejura MCE”, he testified

The MCE claims the youth had it all wrong because the two persons who were arrested earlier are not his bodyguards. Soon after people started calling him names, the MCE was alarmed and fled the community. This was based on advice from the security operatives since his security was paramount.

He added that he left the community at the time when his subordinates wanted him the most because his presence might have caused more riots since he was the main target of the angry youth.

The MCE said the youth would have come after him and cause danger to his life, adding during the shootings, he was not in the community but after the situation was brought under control, he returned and received a report of what happened. From his account, the main cause of the protests leading to the shooting started from the death of Kaaka and his alleged bodyguards. He does not agree with persons who are trying to link him to the death of Kaaka and the subsequent shooting.
