The Minister of Energy, Hon Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh had a virtual meeting today with the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori Atta, his deputy, other senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to discuss strategies to fund some of the critical projects for the enhancement of power supply.
The Energy Minister said, GRIDCo has already begun upgrading some of its transmission lines nationwide and requires significant funding to complete them.
He added that the agency also has a significant amount of debt on its books which need rectification to make it a more attractive venture for potential investors.
He revealed that ECG has pledged to increase its revenue collection in order to pay off its debts as well as manage its duties more efficiently, “at the end of the meeting, we had reached agreeable conclusions and action points and will start putting plans to action”.
