Energy Minister to appear before Parliament over power cuts

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh

The Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has been invited by Parliament.

This was agreed upon after an urgent question on the erratic power supply across the country.

The Minister will appear before Parliament on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, to answer questions on the state of power supply in the country.

Ghana’s energy situation requires urgent answers from the minister after several parts of the country continue to struggle with the supply of power.

The government has insisted that the current situation is a result of the need for maintenance and not a challenge.

To the minority in Parliament, the power cuts are a result of the government’s failure to meet its financial obligations in the sector.

They are of the view that the government should come up with a timetable that will guide the people of Ghana as to when to expect their lights to be cut.
