EPL: Arsenal Beat Leicester To Maintain Top Spot

Premier League leaders Arsenal earned a narrow hard fought victory over Leicester City to maintain their stay at the top.

Gabriel Martinelli found the back of the net on the stroke of half time with a cool finish inside the penalty box after their ‘opener’ was cancelled for a foul on goalkeeper Danny Ward.

The Gunners thought they had gone ahead earlier when Leandro Trossard curled home a beautiful effort only for the goal to be ruled by VAR.

The replay rightly showed Ben White grabbing one hand of the goalkeeper who still managed to parry the ball with his left hand.

As relentless as they were, they pushed for the opener inside the first half and and got it when Trossard dazzled his way into the box before passing to the Martinelli to slot home.

Saka also had his goal chopped off for offside but they held onto their narrow lead and eventually crossed the finishing line.

Second placed Manchester City later on thrashed relegation candidates  Bournemouth 4-1 to keep the heat on Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal sits on the league summit with 57 points, only two points above City but with a game in hand.
