Familiar Fate Strike As Asante Kotoko Booted Out Of CAF Champions League By Kadiogo

Asante Kotoko have been booted out of the CAF Champions League following a 3-1 defeat on penalties to RC Kadiogo of Burkina Faso.

The Ghanaian champions won the first leg by a last minute solitary strike in Cotonou a week ago but failed to hold onto the lead at home.

The Burkinabe side slammed in a free kick in the early stages of the first half and Kotoko failed to respond accordingly.

The Porcupine Warriors struggled for tempo and composure and tried in a failed attempt to get the equalizer as Kodiogo matched on to victory through the lottery of spot kicks.

The two sides resorted to penalty shootout to determine the winner after the game ended 1-1 on aggregate at full time at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Asante Kotoko managed only one of their three kicks while Kadiogo tuck away all their three kicks to qualify to the next round.
