Fans vandalise property at Baba Yara Stadium after Ghana’s loss to Angola

Baba Yara Stadium

After Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Angola in a 2025 AFCON qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, some frustrated fans resorted to acts of violence. The defeat ended Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten streak at the stadium.

Throughout the match, fans grew increasingly agitated as the Black Stars struggled to create clear scoring opportunities on a poor-quality pitch.

Angola’s Felicio Milson scored in added time, sealing the victory and giving Angola their first win in Group F, which also includes Sudan and Niger. In another Group F match, Sudan beat Niger 1-0.

Following Milson’s late goal, some fans expressed frustration by throwing plastic bottles onto the pitch. Once the game ended, several fans breached the stadium’s inner perimeter, trampling over and breaking wooden pitch panels.

Some fans forced their way into the stadium ahead of the match by breaking through a gate at the T.I. Ahmadiyya end of the grounds.

Ghana takes on Niger next on Monday, September 9 in Morocco at 15:00 GMT.
