Fantasy Dome CEO threatens legal action over demolition

Chief Executive Officer of the prominent event centre, Leslie Quaynor, has threatened to seek legal redress over the demolition of the facility.

Mr. Quaynor, in an interview with Sammy Flex, accused the Ghana Trade Fair Company of carrying out the exercise with the help of some National Security operatives.

Expressing his dismay, Mr. Quaynor disclosed that he invested a substantial amount of $5 million into the establishment of the facility, which is now valued at $25 million.

He recounted the abrupt destruction, citing the arrival of multiple bulldozers that swiftly razed the structure within an hour.

“About an hour and a half ago, I was trying to reach my security team, but I couldn’t reach them so I decided to come by, only to find out that the Trade Fair Company, under the protection of the National Security, razed down my facility. With 4 or 5 bulldozers, they just came, and within an hour, they just destroyed it.”

Mr. Quaynor said that despite obtaining a court injunction in January to forestall such actions to enable him to facilitate a relocation process, the Ghana Trade Fair Company disregarded the injunction and destroyed his facility.

He emphasized the necessity of resolving disputes through legal channels rather than resorting to force.

“Whatever the reason is, we should be able to handle this in court; that is why we have the court. National Security cannot protect government institutions from doing this. When I got here, the person in charge of National Security, his name is Captain Frimpong. He told me that the national security had been directed here by the CEO of the Trade Fair to protect the demolition,” Mr. Quaynor added.
