FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Start Date Is Set To Be Moved Forward By One Day

The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar start date is set to be moved forward by one day as per Reuters.

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was scheduled to kickoff on November 21st but FIFA ruling bureau have reportedly agreed to move the date forward by one day. The opening ceremony and the host nation’s first match will now be held on Sunday 20th November instead.

The open ceremony is normally conducted before the host kickoff the first game of the tournament but FIFA had planned an unusual situation where two games would have been played before the ceremony.

The two games — a group A match between Senegal and Netherlands and a group B fixture involving England and Iran were planned to kickstart the tournament before the ceremony on Monday.

The plan was subjected to vote by FIFA president, Gianni Infantino and heads of the six regional confederations, and its expected to win support despite the late notice.
