In a sad report shared by 3News, the Koforidua Technical Institute has been gutted by fire which saw eight students suffering minor injuries as a result of a fire that broke out in the boys’ dormitory.
Of the students, 75 have been relocated. To attend class, the impacted pupils must borrow friends’ clothing and shoes.
At around 11:45 p.m., a fire broke out. It started on the roof and then spread to the four apartments where the boarder lads lived.
The fire was put out quickly by the Ghana National Fire Service, which also prevented it from spreading further into the area. The 75 lads’ possessions were reduced to ashes by fire.
Students that are affected are traumatized. To attend class, many of them are using borrowed clothing and shoes.
“My friend gave me this shirt to wear. All my school uniform, books and everything has been burnt,” one student said.
