Fuel shortage hits Ghana as GOIL and other stations run out

Several gasoline customers in different sections of the nation have lamented on social media that they couldn’t get fuel.

Patrons claim Ghana Oil Company Limited GOIL is the greatest offender since gasoline was unavailable at GOIL locations.

Vericaps Gadri, a Facebook user, took to social media to complain that more than 10 GOIL shops were short of Super (petrol).

“For tomorrow and the records; about 10 outlets of GOIL I visited in Accra today did not have Super to sell even at their high selling price. Should this cause us to be wary (sic) and could we suffer some shortages in the coming days. What is our fate?” He posted on his Facebook page.

Filling stations in other sections of the nation reportedly lack petrol and diesel, forcing customers to travel from station to station.

As a reminder, The Institute of Energy Security (IES) predicted a gasoline scarcity two months ago, and it looks to be coming true.

Nana Amoasi VII, Executive Director of IES, predicted the cedi’s devaluation and rising oil prices may cause scarcity in March 2022.
