Funeral rites of Ga Manye: GUTA urges traders in Accra to fully comply with closure of shops

The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has urged all traders within the Accra environ to fully comply with the revised closure period of one day, Saturday, 28th October 2023.

GUTA said it is essential that every business owner understands the value of this cultural tradition and actively supports it.

The association expressed its deepest appreciation to His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse and President of Ga Traditional Council, Ni Adote Otintor 1I, (Sempe Mantse /Chairman of Central Funeral Planning Committee), the Chiefs and Elders of the Ga Traditional Council for the recent review of the closure of shops during the funeral rites of Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru lII.

The decision to reduce the closure period from three days to one day, Saturday, 28th October 2023, demonstrates the commitment of the chiefs to balancing cultural traditions with the economic needs of the community.

GUTA in a statement said it acknowledges the concerning issue of certain traditional members intentionally misleading the public in markets, thus deviating rom the new directives issued by the Traditional Chiefs.

“Per the communique issued by Nii Adote Otintor II, Sempe Mantse/ Chairman of Central funeral Planning Committee, traders within Accra Environs are directed to close all shops and markets on Saturday, 28th October 2023 only,” a statement issued by GTA said.
