GFA Appoints Chris Hughton As Black Stars Head Coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Chris Hughton as the new Head Coach of the Black Stars following extensive deliberations between the two parties.

Chris will replace Otto Addo who stepped down after the Black Stars poor showing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The FA said the ‘appointment is in line’ with their vision to continue with the project of building a formidable squad that Otto Addo started.

Mr. Hughton has been the Technical Advisor of the Black Stars for the past twelve months.

The GFA has also decided to maintain Assistant Coaches George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

The three coaches were part of the technical team for the World Cup in Qatar.

Details about the duration of the contract and terms of engagement would be announced in due course.

From 1993 to 2007 Hughton served as coach and then assistant manager for Tottenham before joining Newcastle United as first team coach in 2008, and, following their relegation, became caretaker manager.

He led Newcastle back to the Premier League in his first season in charge, along the way breaking a number of records and securing the permanent managerial position.
