One person was killed in an accident near the Gomoa Postin intersection on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway, while four others were severely injured and hospitalized. The tragedy occurred when the victims’ vehicle collided with a cow that had been knocked down earlier by another vehicle.
According to an eyewitness, Kwabena Eshun, a cow was previously knocked down by a vehicle on the highway on early Tuesday morning, forcing police to be called to the site.
However, while police officers were on the scene attempting to transport the cow from the highway, a passenger car VW Sprinter bus registered GX 9541- 21 traveling at a top speed failed to stop when signaled to do so by the police and, even when the siren was signaling, bypassed the already parked vehicles and crushed into the body of the cow.
According to Eshun, the vehicle somersaulted numerous times, killing one of the occupants, a male who has not yet been recognized.
The driver, his companion, and two other passengers on board were also injured and were brought to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
Body of the deceased is also being preserved at the morgue of the same facility.
