Government Working To Mitigate The Impact Of Covid-19 Through Skill Training – Fin. Ministry

The Ministry of Finance has revealed that the Government of Ghana led by Nana Addo is working closely with the finance ministry has implement various initiatives to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 and one is government’s initiative called The National Training and Re-training Programme.

According to the ministry, the national training and re-training programme seeks to trained unskilled Ghanaians with skills whilst the Re-training seeks to re-trained the skilled persons in aid of providing employment for the people who lost their jobs as a results of the covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to journalist at a five day training workshop organized by the ministry at The Zone Restaurant and Event Centre at Amanfrom in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, the Head of International and Regional Policy Unit at the ministry of finance, Enoch Obeng Darko urged the trainees to do well to manage to put into practice of what they have learnt to make others benefit from their training.

He also on the other side clarified that the training and re-training programme is not affiliated to any party and for that noted that all Ghanaians must participate in the programme to gain skill training to reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

Some of the people benefited from the five day training workshop applauded the government for such initiative and thus called on the government to provide seed money for them (the trainees) seed money to start up their small business to be able to put into practice of what they have been thought.

They said if even government will provide for them a soft loan, they will be glad. They were thought how to make pastries and also bake bread. The training was free and all you need is your Ghana card for registration.

Responding to the request by the trainees on the government providing soft loans for them, the Head of International and Regional Policy Unit at the ministry of finance, Enoch Obeng Darko said he send their request to the sector minister and look at how best they can do to help.
