The Minister for Communications and Digitalization who doubles as MP for Ablekuma West Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekufful, has emphatically stated that government is still in negotiation process to purchase Airtel Tigo.
In her answer to a parliamentary question filed by Hon. Sam. George, who sought to verify the announced state acquisition of AirtelTigo Ghana from its parents holding company,Bharti Airtel International and Netherlands B.V.
Mrs. Ursula Owusu stated that the financial deal of the purchase of Airtel Tigo is US$1.
She noted that the operator will be run by the state in the best interest of the nation and telecommunications industry which will ensure the protection of the interest of all stakeholders, employees, suppliers and also sustain the digital transformation of Ghana.
He stated that they are in consultations with the Attorney General for legal device on the transactions and will come for parliament approval when the purchase process is well done.
In an interview with the Ranking Member on Communications Committee, Hon. Samuel George, stated that an information of National Stock Exchange of India indicated that Bharti Airtel Tigo has been sold the government of Ghana and for that minister to said they are still negotiation is understandable.
