Yaw Tog known in private life as Thorsten Owusu Gyimah, a Kumasi-based musician, has said that he started his career as a footballer but his mum stopped him.
“It happened in a certain way but the stubbornness too was too much so my mum woke up one day and instructed me to stop playing football,” Yaw Tog revealed to Amansan Krakye.
He added in a one-on-one interview sighted by MyNewsGh.com “I was a little bit confused but I couldn’t do anything about it and I had to stop playing football so when I stayed home, that was when I begun listening to music”.
Talking about how he moved on after quitting football on Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Yaw Tog said he was influenced to do music after listening to Kwesi Arthur’s songs.
“I found Kwesi Arthur and I started listening to his songs so actually Kwesi Arthur influenced me and I started doing music with the writing and everything,” he added on the Kastle Entertainment Show.
He ended “When I stopped playing football most of my friends started laughing at me because in my hood everybody was into football and so we didn’t think we could succeed in doing music but I kept on fighting”.
