Member of Parliament for Dormaa West Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, has expressed his disappointment in the first deputy speaker’s ruling over the rejection of the motion filed by some members of the minority .
Parliament on Tuesday,22nd February 2022 rejected a motion filed by the minority seeking parliament to constitute a bipartisan committee to investigate into the COVID-19 expenditure by Government since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.
In an interview with Nana Yaa Kyeretwie parliamentary reporter, the MP,
he stated categorically that it would have been the biggest opportunity for government to account for any money given to them to combat the spread of COVID-19. In other for the ordinary Ghanaians to have trust in them to know taxes paid are used judiciously.
He noted that if government was able to account for the expenditure to Ghanaians its would have paved way to introduce more taxes.
He stated that if NPP are better managers of this country they should come out boldly and account for the COVID-19 expenditure.
