“I Never Wanted To Marry Will Smith, I Was Pressured” : Jada Pinkett Reveals

Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife, has stated that she never wanted to marry him.

In the rediscovered Red Table Talk tape from 2018, the Matrix actress discusses her shotgun wedding to the King Richard star.

Will famously smacked Chris Rock on live TV after he made a joke about Jada’s alopecia-related haircut.

He has been barred from attending the Academy Awards for the next ten years and has resigned from the organization.

Jada recalls “weeping down the freaking aisle” while marrying her 24-year-old husband.

However, she stated that she only went ahead with the wedding because she was pregnant with Jaden, her and Will’s oldest child.

“I didn’t want to marry…

“I, too, did not want a wedding,” she explained.

I was under a great deal of pressure. Being a young actress who is also pregnant. I didn’t know what to do, but I knew I didn’t want to get married.”

“We only married because Gammy (Jada’s mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris) was crying,” Will, who also appeared in the video, explained.

Jada and Will married on New Year’s Day 1997 at the Cloisters, a medieval-style mansion near Baltimore where Jada grew up.

Guests were not even given the location of the wedding; instead, they had to arrive at a hotel and provide an envelope with directions to their limo driver.

The bride wore a full-length champagne velvet gown by Badgley Mischka with a high collar and long sleeves. Will looked very Nineties in a matching white suit.

Despite the fact that their wedding seemed to go off without a hitch, Jada was three months pregnant at the time, and the day was described as “awful.”

“The wedding was a nightmare,” Adrienne, Jada’s mother, said. It was a complete shambles. Jada was ill, and she was an annoyance to be around. She refused to work with us in any way.”

“I had to have a wedding because I was in such a bad mood.” “I was p****ed,” Jada confessed. “I sobbed my way down the aisle.” “I was crying the entire time.”

“I didn’t want to get married, and now Gammy’s gone crying to Will about how I don’t want to have a wedding,” she explained at the time. “Now I’m being forced to have a wedding when all I really wanted was just the two of us [her and Will] on a mountain because this is serious business.”
