Jagger Pee, a prominent Ghanaian actor, has said unequivocally that he despises being a Ghanaian actor.
In an interview with Citi FM, the famous actor declared that anybody choosing to work as an actor in Ghana has chosen a very noble job path, but one that is placed in a filthy milieu.
He expressed his discontent with the profits and revenues made by the Ghanaian film industry, stating that although it had not been beneficial to them, they were continuing for the sake of future generations with the aim of influencing change.
“If I were to die and reincarnate, I would want to be an actor outside of Ghana rather than in Ghana… The film business is growing everywhere except Ghana. Ghana is a bad country to develop a career in acting. You work for many years with very little remuneration. He bemoaned.
“Even though Ghana’s film business isn’t developing, we’re still slogging through only to pave the way for our successors in the profession to enter and potentially make a difference,” the seasoned actor remarked, looking absolutely irritated.
Jagger Pee, born Abeiku Nyame, was imprisoned in 1996 with his friend and fellow singer Gee Man as a consequence of a shooting at Accra’s CFC Flats Dome, which led to the death of a taxi driver.
He was granted amnesty after serving two years of his life sentence, half of which was spent on death row. Despite his time in prison, he was one of Ghana’s top actors in the 1990s and has had a big impact on the country’s film industry.
