I’ve never smoked in my life – OV

OV

Ghanaian artiste and former signee of the Burniton Music Group, Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko, generally known as OV has disclosed that contrary to the widely held perception that she is drug addict and smoker, she has never been involved in drugs or smoked weed.

According to her, many people have wrongly judged her because of her looks when that is far from who she truly represents.

Speaking on Kwaku Manu’s Aggressive Interview recently, the Shush singer said apart from wine, she doesn’t take any alcoholic beverage.

“I have never smoked or indulged in hard drugs. The only thing that I love is wine and people close to me can testify. I’ve never smoked in my life,” she stated.

This is not the first time 2018 MTN Hitmaker winner has addressed rumours of her being a drug addict.

Last year, she told Giovani Caleb on 3FM that she struggled fiercely with depression, which eventually led to her mental breakdown and a two-week confinement.

OV went on to say that things became worse for her when was unknowingly given an overdose of medication, which left her paralysed for two weeks, forcing her to take some time off the music scene for full recovery.

However, her absence was attributed to drug addiction which she later refuted on the said interview.

OV’s journey in the music industry began when she emerged the winner of MTN Music Reality show in 2018.

Her talent and stage presence caught the attention of the Burniton Music Group, and she was swiftly signed onto the label following her victory.

Her debut release, Want Me, featuring the reggae dancehall icon Stonebwoy quickly gained recognition.

However, OV’s partnership with Stonebwoy was short-lived, raising eyebrows and questions when the news broke about a year into her contract that she and her label mate Kelvyn Boy, were parting ways with the record label.

During her interview with Kwaku Manu, OV challenged the media to find out the truth for exiting Stonebwoy’s record label.
