Jermain Defoe Returns To Spurs As Coach And Ambassador

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Jermain Defoe has returned to the club as a member of the academy coaching staff alongside a role as club ambassador.

“We are delighted to announce that Jermain Defoe has returned to the Club as a member of our Academy coaching staff and Club Ambassador.” Spur announced.

Defoe made 363 appearances for the Spurs, scoring 143 goals in two separate spells between 2004-2014.

He will be attached to the youth team along with existing coaching staff to help the development of players across the under-17s to under-21s age categories.

He is also given ambassadorial duties and responsibilities by Spurs to share his vast experience with the club’s affiliations.

The 39-year-old’s role as club ambassador will involve community work, engaging with global fans and helping to support club partnerships.

On his part Defoe tweeted: “Delighted to confirm I will be joining @SpursOfficial returning as an Academy coach and also club Ambassador. It’s no secret the love I have for the club, and I’m really excited to get started. Here’s to the new chapter #Family”
