Evangelist Mama Pat, formerly known as Nana Agradaa has been detained by the Ghana Police Service following the fraudulent activities she visited on her congregants in her church located at Weija.
This was announced in a statement by the Service shared via its social media handles on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
A statement from the police reads;
PATRICIA ASIEDUA ALIAS NANA AGRADAA ARRESTED
THE POLICE HAVE ARRESTED PATRICIA ASIEDUA ALIAS NANA AGRADAA FOLLOWING ALLEGATIONS OF MONEY DOUBLING SCAM LEVELLED AGAINST HER BY SOME MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC.
THE SUSPECT IS CURRENTLY ASSISTING POLICE INVESTIGATION.
ANYONE WHO IS A VICTIM OF THE ALLEGED MONEY DOUBLING SCAM SHOULD REPORT TO THE ACCRA REGIONAL POLICE COMMAND FOR FURTHER ACTION TO ASSIST THE INVESTIGATION.
A series of viral videos were shared on Sunday showing disgruntled church members crying and narrating how the former celebrity priestess scammed them of various sums of money under the guise of doubling it for them.
She reportedly sent the people away from the church after achieving her aim, prompting the alarms they raised online.
Meanwhile, the police have since called on all persons who were affected by the supposed scam to report to the Accra Regional Police Command to help with the investigations.
