The Kasoa Divisional Police Command has arrested a 43-year man old for possessing bundles of fake Ghana Cedi and United States currencies.
The suspect, Kofi Appiah was arrested at Estate Junction, a suburb in Kasoa in possession of bundles of 50-cedi notes suspected to be fake, with some dollar notes.
The Police noted that several fake currencies were retrieved in his apartment after further interrogation.
Speaking to the media after the arrest, the Kasoa Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Owusu Dwumoh indicated that charges of possession of fake currency will be preferred against the suspect.
The Police are however warning the general public especially traders to be wary of fake currencies on the market and report to them accordingly whenever they encounter fake currencies and people who deal in fake currencies.
