Two men in Military uniform with a camouflage Benz pickup vehicle, and four (4) civilians are currently in the grips of the Kasoa Odupong Ofaakor District Police Command for allegedly killing a sand winner at Awutu Kwao Bonzie near Kasoa in the Central region.
Narrating the incident to obaatanparadioonline.com’s reporter, an eye witness said they were at a sand winning site working when a military vehicle pulled up on them. According to the witness two men, dressed in military uniforms attacked and robbed them of their belongings, so after the supposed military men had left, the sand winners pursued them to ostensibly retrieve their items.
The military officers, having realized that they were being pursued opened gun fire on them, killing one instantly, and rendering 4 others in critical condition.
According to the eye witness, the alleged military men are in connection with some suspected Land guards who have connived with a boundary chief in the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Atopi, popularly known in private life as Lance Corporal Michael Larbie; who is a police detective at the police headquarters.
The police, acting on tip off from the irate youth in the community swiftly picked up the military men and 4 others whom they suspect are abettors in the house of Nai Atopi.
However, the Victims who are in a critical condition are currently on admission at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital and Bawjiase Polyclinic.
They are appealing to the government and the IGP to as a matter of urgency come to their aid and call the said chief Nai Atopi who they believe is behind the activities of land guards in the area.
