The New Patriotic Party in the Awutu Senya East of the Central Region has denied claims by the NDC that they defiled modalities agreed on in the ongoing vote transfer exercise.
According to a press statement cited by Obaatanpa news, the NPP say there was no such modality resulting from any agreement between the two parties.
The statement says that “intelligence gathered by the NPP and reported same to ACP Kosonu, divisional commander, and DSP Obiri Yeboah, director of intelligence, at the Kasoa police service occasioned the directive that no party should bring people to the centre until 4:30am”.
BELOW IS THE FULL STATEMENT BY THE NPP:
Press Release
By NPP Awutu Senya East Constituency on kasoa stabbing incident
Setting The Record Straight on Modality Claims by NDC In the ongoing transfer Exercise in Awutu Senya East.
Let me categorically bring to your attention pure lies by the ndc over “some modality” defiled by the NPP in Awutu Senya East.
Firstly, there was no such modality resulting from any agreement between the two parties.
However, intelligence gathered by the NPP and reported same to ACP Kosonu, divisional commander, and DSP Obiri Yeboah, director of intelligence, at the Kasoa police service occasioned the directive that no party should bring people to the centre until 4:30am.
The intelligence was to the effect that the ndc had planned to attack key leaders of the npp that night with two guys pointed at, to be having gun.
The directive was, however, not complied with by the ndc as their constituency organizer, Daniel Takyi Mensah and his team got to the registration centre at 3am,a complete disregard to the 4:30am time given by the police commanders.
The NDC constituency organizer, Daniel Takyi Mensah’s police statement, confirms their arrival at the EC centre way before the 4:30am.
So, if there is any modality breach, clearly, it can not be the NPP but the NDC.
No volume of pure lies and propaganda by the NDC can change the fact of the unfortunate incident.
We are resolute in ensuring that justice is duly served in order to deter others from promoting political assault.
We implore the police service to bring out the footage that captured the incident on the said day by their cameras.
