Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament from the Assin Central constituency, has accused the late investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, who worked with Tiger Eye, of attempting to set up Ghana’s Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Kennedy Agyapong claims that Ahmed Suale was part of the Tiger Eye investigative team led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, but unlike Anas, Suale did not hide his identity or cover his face during investigations.
According to Agyapong, he exposed Ahmed Suale’s identity on his television station, Net 2 TV, in 2018, which he believes prevented a setup against Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Agyapong alleges that Suale attempted to set up the Finance Minister and some finance officials in Dubai by arranging a meeting with a group of people who were actually Suale and his associates. The Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen, warned Ofori-Atta about the potential entrapment after seeing Agyapong’s exposé, leading Ofori-Atta to avoid the meeting.
Agyapong also criticized Suale’s work ethics, claiming that unlike Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who protected his identity, Suale did not take the same precautions, making him vulnerable to attacks from those he exposed. He stated that Ahmed Suale showed his face during investigations, which could have put him at risk.
Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot and killed near his family home in Accra on January 16, 2019. His assassination led to public speculation, with Kennedy Agyapong being deemed a suspect by some due to his previous disclosure of Suale’s identity. The case remains unsolved, with the police still searching for the culprits behind the killing.
NPP Presidential Aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong has clarified his 'beat him up' comment aimed at late Investigative Journalist Ahmed Suale.
