The 23rd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards saw performers dress in a variety of fashions, with some gaining the title of best and worst dressed.
Kuami Eugene, the 2020 Artiste of the Year, wore a totally covered black costume from fashion company Daily Paper to the VGMA Industry Night.
The Grammy winner wore dark shades and black boots, making it difficult for fans to recognize him at first sight.
The ‘Dollar On You’ singer said to GhanaWeb’s entertainment writer Paulina Dedaa Opoku on Friday, May 6, that he chose his costume to challenge his followers.
“People will find it difficult to identify me? It is me. Somebody just told me that the way I walk…everybody knows me, I mean. It actually shows that you know me that much. This was actually a test,” the singer explained.
People who liked Kuami’s unusual style branded him as a “black ninja” and said he looked like American rapper Kanye West.
The clothing, according to several critics of Eugene’s style, was inappropriate for the occasion.
He co-wrote the smash song ‘Yeeko’ with Okyeame Kwame, which won the 2022 VGMA’s Hiplife Song of the Year.
