Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah has announced his retirement from professional football after nearly two decades in the game.
However the former Juventus midfielder is not entirely exiting from the sport, as he is set to embark on a new project as a football agent.
Asamoah rose through the ranks of Liberty Professionals in Ghana before earning a big move to Italian club Udinese in 2008. His consistent performances earned him a transfer to Juventus in 2012 where he won six consecutive Serie A titles between 2013 and 2018, among other titles with the Old Lady.
In 2018 he signed for Inter Milan and made 40 appearances in two years before joining Cagliari in 2021. He holds the record for most appearances by an African player in Serie A history (279).
At international level, the versatile and technically intelligent player was an integral part of the Black Stars and represented Ghana in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, and two FIFA World Cups.
He was awarded CAF Most Promising African Player in 2010 and twice named Ghana Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, Asamoah was ranked as the 27th best footballer in the world by Bloomberg.
