The legitimate queen mother of Abetifi in the Eastern Region, Nana Amma Amanua II, has set the record straight regarding a viral video in which a woman claims to be the Queen Mother of Abetifi.

Nana Amma Amanua II stated that the woman in the video has no connection to the traditional stool of Abetifi.

This clarification comes after a controversial incident on November 7, when a group of individuals attempted to raid the Abetifihene’s palace with the goal of de-stooling him.

Among them was a woman who falsely claimed to be Yaa Asantewaa and the Queen Mother of Abetifi.

In an exclusive interview with Channel One News, Nana Amma Amanua II reaffirmed her rightful position as the legitimate Queen Mother of Abetifi, dismissing the claims made by the woman in the viral video as baseless.

“The self-acclaimed Yaa Asantewaa mostly takes that action when I am away, just to pretend to be the Queen Mother of Abetifi. Due to my engagements with the media, I am well known. She is not the Queen Mother of Abetifi. I am the legitimate Queen Mother of Abetifi. I am Nana Amma Amanua II.”

Nana Amma Amanua II stated that rites have been performed to reinstate the Abetifihene as the rightful chief of Abetifihene following the inhumane treatment the chief was subjected to during the destoolment attempt

“So after the Chief was brought back to the palace after the incident, we performed all rites necessary to reaffirm his role as the Chief of Abetifi and the President of the Kwahu traditional council.”

The Queen Mother of Abetifi Nana Amma Amanua II further urged the youth to avoid being used as tools to destabilize traditional authority. She emphasized the sanctity of the traditional stool and the need to respect its authority.

“Thrones have power and authority embedded in them. Hence the youth must be very careful not to allow any persons to contract them in causing mayhem against traditional authorities.”
