KUDUS QUEUE GROWS
No sooner have we published a story to say that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have joined Everton, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Lyon, Napoli and Atletico Madrid have all shown interest in Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus, than more gossip emerges about the Ghanaian who impressed us against South Korea on Friday.
This time it comes from Fichajes, who say that there are four big clubs interested in Kudus, who has scored ten goals already this season for Ajax. They are Liverpool, who see him as a replacement for Sadio Mane (didn’t they already replace him with Luis Diaz?), Real Madrid, Chelsea (who could spend, spend, spend in January) and PSG.
It’s fair to say that Everton – who almost signed him last summer – no longer have a chance.
ENZO IS REAL BELLINGHAM BACK-UP
Liverpool are being strongly linked with Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez but in Spain, they believe that Liverpool will get England man Jude Bellingham so Real Madrid have targeted the Benfica man as an alternative.
Marca say that Real were close to signing Fernandez in the summer – when he joined Benfica for around £10m – but backed out because they did not have a non-EU place available and they were worried about his transition to Europe. But in just a few months he has established himself in a Benfica side that has impressed in the Champions League.
The only problem is that with every performance at the World Cup – he came off the bench v Mexico and scored – his price is rising, with Benfica believing they can get around £86m for the 21-year-old.
RASHFORD TO GET NEW DEAL
That’s the tweet from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Three goals in three World Cup games for Marcus Rashford – looks completely different player in the last few months.
And they absolutely should. For all the talk of interest in the very impressive Cody Gakpo, they have Marcus Rashford already at the club and already looking a wildly different player. He has now scored three goals at this World Cup after a start to the season which saw him claim eight goals and three assists for Manchester United.
