Manchester City breezed past Southampton to go top of the Premier League Summit.
City attacked relentlessly from the onset and came close to getting the opening goal but Haaland’s effort surprisingly hit the inside of the post.
Joao Cancelo decided to take matters in his hands and gave the home side the lead inside 20 minutes. He raced on to Phil Foden’s pass down the left wing before cutting past Ward-Prowse and finishing in the bottom corner.
Soon afterwards Foden treated himself to a sumptuous dinked finish inside the box to double the lead before half time.
As expected, Pep Guardiola’s side went for the kill right from the restart — Riyad Mahrez connected a near perfect cross from Rodri and volleyed home the third 4 minutes into the second half.
Before the three goals Haaland missed few chances but he was always going to be on the scoresheet as long as he remained on the pitch.
Midway through the second half Cancelo cutback and literally put it on the plate for the Norwegian who struck a low finish to seal another emphatic win for the Citizens.
