As per Le Parisien, the jersey Lionel Messi worn against Angers on his return to action from the World Cup has been sold at an auction for a record breaking fee of €43,623.
He scored in the 72nd minute during the match.
The Argentine superstar’s shirt was sold along with other match-worn shirts worn by Paris Saint-Germain players during a Ligue 1 game on January 11 and Messi’s number 30 jersey set a record.
A Chinese bidder purchased the number 30 match-worn shirt for €43,623. He started the bidding at €22,000 and won it on the seventh bid.
Messi’s counterparts Mbappe and Neymar had their shirts went for €14,083 and €15,017 respectively on separate occasions.
Messi led Argentina to their elusive third World Cup title in Qatar after beating Mbappe’s France on penalties.
In November, Paris Saint-Germain implemented a system whereby player-worn shirts are auctioned off to the highest bidders after a game.
