Mohammed Kudus is set to miss Ghana’s friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda in Morocco after complaining of shoulder issues, 3Sports understands.
The midfielder was included in Otto Addo’s squad for the March international break but had to pull out. 3Sports can confirm that Kudus’ number 20 jersey has been handed to another player for these two games, confirming the midfielder’s absence.
A source close to the Black Stars revealed: “Kudus is nursing a shoulder discomfort after last weekend’s Premier League game for West Ham against Aston Villa.”
The Ghanaian lasted the entirety of the game against Aston Villa at the London Stadium but is believed to have complained of pain after the match.
On West Ham’s website, the 23-year-old was not listed as one of the players to go on the international break and will now stay in London to recover.
During the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Kudus missed the first game against Cape Verde due to a tight hamstring and was only deemed fit for the Egypt and Mozambique games.
In Kudus’ absence, midfielders like Francis Abu and Forson Amankwah have been handed debut call-ups to the Black Stars.
Ghana will face Nigeria on March 22 before facing Uganda four days later, with both games in Marrakech, Morocco.
