Accra Hearts of Oak have been knocked out of the 2023 MTN FA Cup Round of 32 by Dreams FC following a 1-0 defeat.
Dreams took the lead earlier in the first half through Agyenim Boateng when Hearts’ defence made a costly mistake and he made them pay for it.
But the hosts were given the opportunity to level the score from the spot late in the game and Samuel Inkoom missed the resulting penalty kick spectacularly.
Goalkeeper Augustine Koomson saved Inkoom’s feeble kick to send Dream FC through to the next round of competition.
The former Black Stars right-back has since apologised, he wrote on Twitter “Not the result we wanted today. Deeply sorry for disappointing my teammates and the amazing supporters. We live to fight again, we never say die. Phooooobia.”
The 33-year-old joined the Ghana Premier League giants last season after playing in nine different countries across Europe and America.
The defending champions have been dumped out of the competition and will now have to shift their attention on the ongoing betPawa Premier League.
