Napoli Batter Liverpool From Pillar To Post In Champions League In Italy

Liverpool suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat in their Champions League Group A opening game in Naples as Napoli went on rampage.

Jurgen Klopp’s men looked shell-shocked from the onset leaving Napoli no any other option than to pounce on their vulnerabilities.

They were passengers all over the pitch with Napoli missing a penalty and some glorious chances and still managed to score three in the first half.

Piotr Zielinski converted from the spot to put Napoli ahead before Andre-Frank Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone connected swiftly outside the 18-yard-box before the Cameroonian dashed inside the and fired home to extend the lead.

Zielinski scored again right after the recess before substitute Simeone who was barely on pitch scored on his champions league debut just three minutes after coming on.

Diaz’s curled home a sumptuous strike in the 49th minute but it could only be counted as a consolation for the disappointing six-time European champions.

Klopp’s second half substitutions steadied the ship to some extent but Napoli cling on to their lead.
