NAPO’s press secretary lists the top qualities that secured him the running mate position

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh

The press secretary to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Rodney Nkrumah, has highlighted several qualities that played a crucial role in securing NAPO the position of running mate.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s “The Point of View” program, monitored by GhanaWeb, Mr. Nkrumah emphasized that NAPO’s ability to appeal to the grassroots was a pivotal criterion for the running mate position.

Additionally, Rodney Nkrumah also highlighted NAPO’s determination, drive, and his track record of achieving and resolving issues during his tenure as Minister of Education.

These qualities, along with NAPO’s charisma, played a crucial role in influencing the decision-making process of the party’s leadership regarding his selection as running mate.

“In this campaign, grassroots appeal is going to be very important, and I think that is one strength that he brings across. I mean, you just mentioned that there are people who serve by him, a lot of people see a certain charisma in him that he’s able to get things done.

“And he’s also, from my interaction with him over the past seven years, a doer and an achiever. He sets his eyes on something and is laser-focused. This is where we want to get to, we are getting there, and I saw that whether it was free SHS, licensure, national service for teachers, some of the difficult areas like double track, the computer meltdown, some of the issues that stuck out during his tenure as Education Minister.

“And you saw in there a certain unflappable character who did not easily get carried away… I think those are the qualities; the grassroots appeal is very important, the drive, the ambition, and determination”, he revealed.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is expected to be unveiled today in the Ashanti Region following his confirmation as running mate by the NPP National Executive Council, to partner with the flagbearer of the party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the December polls.
