The National Teaching Council under the auspices of the Ministry of Education has launched the 2021 Ghana Teacher Prize in Accra under the theme Teachers wanted: Reclaiming Teaching and Learning for human-centred recovery.
The National Best Teacher Award Scheme was established in October 1994 by the Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Harry Romulus Sawyer.
Speaking on behalf of the sector minister, the Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, explained that the award is basically to recognise the contribution Teachers have made towards the development of Ghana.
The Deputy Minister claimed that the government hold in high esteem the contribution of Teachers because all the professions behove the teaching profession
According to Deputy Minister, the Ministry of Education will continue to deepen its relations with all teacher Unions to ensure the welfare and motivation of teachers and recognition of teachers continue to be their topmost priority.
