New Juaben: NDC supporters allegedly lock offices of NIA, NADMO, and NSS

NADMO

A group of young men, believed to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stormed the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, January 8, locking the offices of several government agencies, including the National Identification Authority, National Disaster Management Organisation, National Service Secretariat, and the National Health Insurance Authority.

The group later moved to the regional offices of these institutions, attempting similar actions. Although no violence was reported, staff members were left traumatized by the events.

The Koforidua Divisional Police Commander, accompanied by a team of armed officers, including the Counter-Terrorism Unit, swiftly intervened to defuse the situation and restore order.

While the group’s motives remain unclear, Channel One News sources suggest parallels with similar incidents in 2017, targeting politically affiliated individuals during a change in government.

Calm has since been restored, and staff have resumed their normal duties.
