Newly Promoted Fulham Held Liverpool To A Pulsating 2-2 Draw

It took Liverpool twice to come from behind to grind out a 2-2 draw with newly-promoted side Fulham in their opening Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage.

It was quite a vicious start to the game with Liverpool struggling to find rhythm and composure but greater intensity from Fulham did not transfer into a greater threat in front of goal, although they were the more purposeful team for the opening 20 minutes.

However Aleksandar Mitrovic who was a constant threat put the host in front with a thumping header before later converting front the spot to compell Liverpool to crawl back in two different occasions.

Reds new signing Darwin Nunez hits the ground running in his premier league debut. The Uruguay international came off the bench to equalize for Liverpool midway through the second half before providing the assist that earned the Anfield side a vital one point on the road.

With just 10 minutes remaining on the clock, Mohammed Salah latched onto Nunez’s bad touch to level for the visitors to deny Marco Silver side a famous victory.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said “We started in exactly the opposite way that we wanted. We had to break lines but we played into their hands. We didn’t find a way into the game and then we were overplaying.”
