Ghanaian artist and businessman, Nhyiraba Kojo has freed 16 inmates of the Sekondi prisons after paying off their debts.
The serial entrepreneur has also promised to build a proper water system for the correctional facility.
Kojo is to take all these actions after his first-hand experiences in the Sekondi prisons opened his eyes to the challenges being faced there by inmates.
The Ghanaian businessman was jailed several weeks back due to contempt of court after failing to comply with a court order.
Three residents of Fijai who complained about noise emanating from the NK City Nightclub sued him for noise pollution.
He was instructed by the court to stop noise pollution from his nightclub and install soundproofing but he could not prove to the court he has done so.
Kojo was sentenced to 30 days in prison and has now been released.
In appreciation of the challenges faced by inmates, Nhyiraba Kojo paid the debts of 16 inmates to be freed.
He also presented the prison with some items and on top of it all promised to build the prison a good water system’ as he noticed the prison has no water running system – instead relying on water from the fire service water tank supply.
