Nana Kojo Safo Jnr, CEO of Kantanka Automobile, has revealed his lack of awareness regarding the recent cross-continental road trip undertaken by a group of Ghanaians from Accra to London.
The 16-day journey garnered widespread attention as the adventurers triumphantly completed the expedition over the weekend.
In the course of their voyage, it emerged that the team had endeavored to establish a collaboration with Kantanka Automobile to showcase locally manufactured vehicles. However, their outreach met with silence from the company’s management.
Kwabena Peprah, the team leader, shed light on their efforts to engage local brands during an interview on TV3. He expressed, “We didn’t get the support, we approached Kantanka …they didn’t get in touch. They didn’t give us the audience, they didn’t even give us the time of the day, and they didn’t even bother with anything.”
This revelation ignited a storm on social media, as numerous users voiced their opinions on the missed opportunity. Many accused Kantanka of hesitating to employ one of its vehicles for the journey. Others questioned the car manufacturer’s ability to provide cars of sufficient quality for such an undertaking.
Responding to the group leader’s claims, the Kantanka Group CEO took to Twitter to express his thoughts. He wrote, “Was never contacted ooo. Hmm. A few heads will roll since it’s a Monday. This is something I would have loved to be part of.”
The team, dubbed ‘The Wander Lusters,’ embarked on their journey from Oyarifa on Sunday, July 23, and successfully covered a remarkable 10,000 kilometers from Accra to London.
