It took Luis Diaz’s individual brilliance for Liverpool to comeback from behind to salvage a point against Crystal Palace on Monday night Premier League fixture at Anfield.
Liverpool were hoping to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Fulham but things turned out pretty much the same as the Reds endure another frustrating outing.
Liverpool were the much stronger side from outset but it was the visitors who took the lead after 31 minutes via a Wilfred Zaha sumptuous strike.
Eberechi Eze took advantage of the Reds high line and put Zaha through with a perfect low pass and the Ivorian run few steps before side-footing the ball into the far bottom corner.
As Liverpool were trying to get back into the game Darwin Nunez got himself rattled by Palace’s Joachim Andersen and the Uruguayan did the unthinkable by head butting the defender. He was shown a straight red card.
Almost immediately after the red card Luis Diaz went on a solo run from the left, weave his way through defenders before firing home from distance to draw level.
Despite the numerical disadvantage Liverpool were still in the thick of things. Palace came close to taking the lead as Zaha hit the post in the 77th minute when he tried connecting from the far post.
Liverpool has gained two points from two games and are due to face Manchester United on Monday.
