Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian teenage midfielder Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama on a reported fee of £11 million.
Vasco earlier announced on Friday that a deal has been reached with Chelsea for the transfer of the midfielder before the Blues announced the deal on Saturday.
Santos rise through the ranks at Vasco and was instrumental in helping them gain promotion to the top flight after finishing third in the Serie B last term. He netted eight goals in 33 appearances.
The 18-hear-old midfield sensation featured in 33 games and found the back of the net eighth times.
A very excited Santos said ‘It’s a very big opportunity’ for him to sign for a ‘big club’ club like Chelsea “This is a big club playing in big competitions like the Premier League so I am very excited”.
“The players here are so good and I am very happy to be here.” He added.
The Rio de Janeiro born has already represented Brazil at the Under-20 level and now makes the move to London.
