OFFICIAL: Domenico Tedesco Is New Head Coach Of Belgium National Team

The Royal Belgian Football Association has appointed former RB Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco as head coach of the Belgium national team.

During his time in Saxony, Tedesco guided Leipzig to their first DFB Pokal in 2022 before he was relieved of his duties in December.

The 37-year-old has signed a contract with the Red Devils that runs until after the 2024 European Championships in Germany. Tedesco will be entrusted to deliver Belgium its major trophy following years of failure with it’s golden generation.

Belgium is in a favourable group along with Austria, Sweden, Azerbaijani and Estonia and nothing but qualification will be a major upset.

Tedesco released a statement saying: “For me it is a great honour to be the new head coach of Belgium. I’m really looking forward to the task and I’m extremely motivated. I had a very good feeling right from the first conversation.”

The Italian-German tactician previously managed Schalke 04 and guided them to a second place finish in the Bundesliga in his debut season before he was sacked in March 2019. He bsequently took  charge of Spartak Moscow in the Russian  league in October 2019 and left in June 2021 before joining RB Leipzig.
